GDP growth recorded for the Philippines during the first quarter of the year. The decline, a drop from the 3.9% posted at the end of 2008, is attributed to the financial crisis and the decrease in manufacturing and trade performance. It is also seen as a sign that fallout from the global recession has reached the Philippines.
